Bikesuit Rainwear

BikesuitWhen I saw this over at Cyclelicious, I thought it was a gag. Apparently, it’s no joke. It debuted at Eurobike and won an award, but unfortunately it won’t be available until Spring 2010. Visit www.bikesuit.eu for more info.

  • no more excuses

  • I wonder why they didn’t put the model on a bike for the picture on the right. He looks so goofy standing in what I can only assume is supposed to be bike ridding position. Weird….

  • That is simultaneously one of the coolest and dorkiest things I have ever seen! I wonder how much it will be. ($200-$300, maybe?)

  • I have a showerspass rain jacket, same type of venting, air flow up the wide cuffs on the sleeves, pit zips, large vent on the back. Its great, way more comfortable and much cooler then my old jacket, but even in the mid 50′s to low 60′s I definetly have to go slower then normal while wearing it or it will become a sauna. But I do most of my riding in the city and its a lot of stopping and starting which does negate the venting a bit.

But the pants… those have to be overkill. Their is no ventilation on those at all from the pictures, they are going to get very warm very fast. I would much rather go with fenders, jacket, and quick drying shorts/knickers, maybe a pair of wool leg warmers. Might be colder for the first mile or two, but after that perfectly comfortable. And I would rather start out a bit cold then end up all sweaty and freezing.

  • The absence of gear like this is one of the reasons I don’t ride to work all taht often. I would love to give this a try on my 19 mile route to work in shitty weather

  • Dear FJM,

The pants do have ventilation: on the insides of the thighs there are zippers, just like at the arm pits.
At the areas where the jacket ‘blouses’ over the pants, there are air inlets too. Also, the materials used will be of the highest grade in breathability.

Sorry that this is not all visible from the pictures.

We designed this suit to wear also if you’re not sure that it will rain. That’s why good venting systems are very important. We’re very happy with how the combination of wrist inlet, arm pit zippers and upper back air outlet works. It really lets the air flow along the arms and upper body and takes away a lot of heat plus it is controllable, too.
