Bike Cult Handbuilt Bicycle Show
Brooklyn will get its own hand-built bicycle show this Labor Day weekend.
Bike Cult will showcase hand-built bikes from more than 20 local builders from New York and surrounding areas at the Warsaw Concert Hall in Williamsburg. Horse Cycles, Squarebuilt and Rosko Cycles are just a few of the local NYC bike builders who will be exhibiting, along with Bilenky out of Philadelphia, Vicious Cycles out of New Paltz, and many more coming from the greater New England area.
The Bike Cult show is dedicated to Ezra Caldwell of Fast Boy Cycles. A designer and fabricator of custom steel frames, Caldwell has been making bikes in Harlem since 2007. However, shortly after launching the brand he was diagnosed with rectal cancer; last year Caldwell stopped taking orders for custom bikes. Bike Cult will showcase his work, including his last bicycle project, the Ultimate Tight Ass (UTA), a high-end mountain bike. Caldwell will launch the auction of this bike at the show.
The show kicks of Friday, August 30 at 2p.m. and goes through Saturday evening, with a Bike Ball Friday night and a Builder’s Open House on Sunday. For more information visit www.bikecultshow.com
