Bespoken: Music Made Entirely From Playing Bicycles
When we talk about bike songs we’re usually referring to songs about bikes. Well, one musician interpreted the idea of a bike song a little differently. Johnnyrandom recently recorded “Bespoken,” a song composed solely from sounds made using parts of the bicycle. Spokes and cables are picked and bowed, tires are drummed, cleats are clipped in and out, and a dozen other bike parts are made to sing in this track. Listen to a preview of “Bespoken” on Soundcloud–along with the song, here Johnnyrandom posts a list of what parts he plays and how, along with some of the individual samples of the various parts he plays. Check out the sample where he plays the derailleur cable with a bow, it’s unreal.
The single is available on iTunes.
