We have to admit, this labor day weekend, the editor and publisher of Urban Velo were not at our computers creating fresh new blog posts for you to read as you get back to work on this Tuesday morning. No, we were selfishly out of town, riding our bikes, spending time with friends and loved ones, and doing things like camping and playing polo. We sincerely hope you were doing the same.
Hell, let us know what you did over Labor Day in the comments below.

P.S. I’m not Tour Grinch, for some reason, I wasn’t able to change my info.
On Friday I rode my mountain bike, on Saturday it was my fixed gear bike, on Sunday out came the townie bike, and on Monday I hauled stuff in my cargo bike.
I went for a long ride with friends on Friday, then did SFA the rest of the weekend. Good times!
We were lucky enough to watch the fierce cycling race, the Giro de San Francisco, from right at the finish line on a glorious, perfect weather Labor Day! Hernandez broke away and led for the last five miles, time-trialing his way to the win. It was just fantastic; he really was suffering, but his legs would not quit!
Slept a hole in both days, BBQ-ed and didn’t touch any of my bikes.
An afternoon of polo on grassy fields of glory!
i played with my kids… and interviewed my new intern… so yeah, i worked…
spent the weekend trying to get my stolen bike back, and succeded last night at 1030pm to end bikeless week. i also got an eigthinch scrmbler frame, toshi straps, conti 4000 tires, and new 1/8inch drivetrain. fixie getting some new lovin this week.
On Saturday I caught Ali Marcus in Olympia, WA, and heard tunes that were like looking at little Impressionist paintings (like you shoulda heard just what I seen). They also had their “Harbor Days”, with a lot of vendors and a little flotilla of antique tugboats.
Camped in the woods, took the train to Vancouver (not BC) Washington (not DC)and goofed off til I stumbled into a major happening to support drug & alcohol recovery with some great live blues from Blues Cruisers.
Camped on the beach and scared the bejeezus out of some poor chick looking for a little privacy in the dark. She high-tailed and if she had wings she’d've flown.
Nice cruising around strange towns and finding the coolest kind of stuff. It’s like Christmas every day.
P.S. Ali’s “Riding My Bicycle” is easily worth 99 cents from iTunes (I don’t get a cut)
I took 2 bike rides in Rocky River Reservation.. 1 was 16 miles and the other was 12 miles. Also, played cornhole and beat my dad (fun!) and hung out with family and friends. That’s about it. =)
