A Camper’s Bike

campers bikeBike camping is a great way to get out of the city for a while. But with chilly weather on the horizon, only the hardiest or most industrious cyclists will be heeding the call of the wild. One of those people is Brooklyn-based artist Kevin Cyr.

Right now his design accomodates just one rider/camper, but perhaps he’ll work on a tandem version next.

Ha! Maybe you can bend the rules and have one person pedal and the other sleep…or stick their head out the window and yell “MUSH.”

That would be a bear to ride in a headwind. Then again, you could just park it in the lee side of a building and take a break.

I actually own a recumbent delta trike from Lightfoot Cycles that is a heavy duty utility vehicle. I have hauled a refrigerator over a couple of mountains, my 30+ pound son and a families weekly batch of groceries on it, etc. I live on the foothills of the Appalachians on the top of a hill so I am always climbing coming and going. However I cringe thinking about hauling this camper over anything but flat terrain. Just bring a tent or hennessy hammock and enjoy your rids.

this is indeed a very cool idea and we are seriously developing something along this line. Be sure to check out our web site at:

We have two bicycle mini camper designs in the works and we are currently working on trying to raise funds through our IndieGoGo campaign to make the first prototype. Help us out and we can make this dream a reality:
