Poor taste, and I usually have a sense of humor about these things.
That poster is about as tasteless as anything I’ve seen lately.
Horrific.
This makes my tits hard! Like, I am about to cut some serious diamonds because of it. I love it to death.
As a near lifelong Misfits fan, part of me says, “hell yeah”. But it’s an odd historical event to base a race around, and fairly tasteless.
Hell yeah. Tasteless rocks.
Kennedy’s bullet ridden body in the street!
The Kennedy family and especially Papa Joe were nothing but thugs, bootleggers & womanizers. Jack couldn’t keep his pants on and Robert was a royal pain in the arse and a boyscout. Taste shmaste it’s a classick album sleeve…now if the race was held and Delaney Square in Dallas, that would be something. Flipping amusing is what!
Maybe their next one can be roasting marshmallows at Ground Zero. That’s the only thing that comes to mind right now which could be more inappropriate.
I could care less about the cultural dictate that says I’m supposed to care about and hold in reverence those that dictate our lives for us….especially ones I’ve never met, or would be allowed to get as close as 10 feet to. So I really don’t care about the subject matter.
P.S. – It’s art. Well executed art. Effective art. Therefore it’s great!
Who cares if it’s offensive? It’s a flier for and illegal bike race. If you find it offensive then do not go. I really do not think the organizers of the race give a rat’s ass if Joe Shmo who’s looking for a 3 speed commuter bike takes offense to their flier.
considering the same NWO/Global Bankers who wacked him for trying to pull us out of Vietnam/disband the CIA are now trying to take over the world by first collapsing the US (financially) and bring on a global carbon tax and control us all, I think this poster is more relevant than ever. It brings about awareness of the dangerous powers that lurk behind the closed doors of Bilderburg and Council on Foreign Relations PowWows, making decisions that will affect us ALL
I don’t find it offensive, but it does seem rather jack-assed. I mean, pay respect to your presidents regardless of your political views.
If he wasnt a president would anyone care? Nope. I think I can leave it at that. Had you not known that was an ex president who was murdered I am sure it would not have gotten the same response. The debate is not whether the scene depicted is appropriate or not but rather that some feel put off by the fact that they used a president for it.
(Can you not find this picture in history books, the tv, magazines, newspapers? You can, and much more graphic ones as well.)
It’s disrespectful, offensive, and nothing but gratuitous gore. I’m sure the organizers don’t care…there is a large segment of our society who basically take the attitude of “anything goes.” They are so full of themselves, amoral, and callous that they don’t care who they hurt or what they tear down. They are pathetic.
The whole Kennedy Klan were thugs and worse, same as Bush co. etc. etc.
Sorry,T.V. and your false History will not tell you this.In this day and age it amazes me how the Pajama People defend those who are really here to destroy this world.
Offensive if your bloodline.Maybe.
Pathetic is being a sleep-walking sheep giving your life away to those who have sold you out.
I always loved the Misfits but I’ve never been comfortable with that image. Whether you like the Kennedys or not JFK was still somebody’s dad, somebody’s son. Whatever. It’s just art and I’m all for freedom of expression.
It’s apparently more appropriate to get upset about something like this than, say, any of the million other fucked up things happening in our own individual lives that we could each proactively change.
I can’t think of that line without thinking Laibach’s version(s) of Sympathy For The Devil. Image is total Misfit’s to me (“Bullet”)…shows how far I am over the edge if it takes so many steps to consider whether or not it’s tasteless. They could put M. Monroe’s head in his lap.
it definitely gets everybody’s attention whether one likes it or not. i guess their goal was achieved. personally, i don’t like it, and i doubt i would attend an event or listen to an album with it.
the red writing maybe makes it better, but i don’t understand the guilt concept. it wasn’t you, and it wasn’t me – well, maybe it was you.
squash, I’m assuming you recognize that’s a line from Sympathy for the Devil. “I shouted out who killed the Kennedys, when after all it was you and me.”
What’s so wrong with 3-speed commuter bikes?
Oh, how dead punk is.
Don’t get your panties in a ruffle, its just art (great art).
“Great Art” is a bit of stretch. It’s a well done graphic. The theme is slightly over the top for an alleycat. Let’s not take ourselves too seriously here. And, I suspect there’s nothing wrong with a 3 speed commuter bike. If one were to show up at my doorstep I would give it a loving home.
I can laugh at almost anything tasteless.
Not this.
answer: C. Indifferent.
what is illegal about an alleycat anyways? Dangerous? Maybe. Some people do illegal things like break traffic laws… but I don’t think anyone can be arrested for organizing an alleycat, and I certainly wouldn’t expect to get arrested if me and 20 of my friends decided to race each other around the block on foot.
The quote from the Stones’ tune makes it poignant rather than tasteless. PS, It was Dealy Plaza not Delaney Square
Judging from the comments, both here and ocbicycleco, the majority of people find it tasteless/disrespectful and a minority like it. I don’t really ‘get’ the message, at least from how the creator described. Regardless, I think the people who were deeply troubled by the Kennedy assassination are fairly misguided–Kennedy was a mediocre to bad president during a time that also saw the institutionalized murder and oppression of far more relevant and morally guided individuals. While any loss of life is sad, I think its important to recognize that this guy lived a decadent life at the expense of millions of others. Bay of Pigs? First days of Vietnam?
Either way you fall on this, they’re are bigger things to get heated over right now. Obama’s surge to Afghanistan anyone?
Wildly inappropriate, terribly poor taste. How soon is too soon? And who cares? Bullet was my first favorite Misfits song and that image was never half as offensive as the lyrics of the song.
I’m definitely a fan of wild inappropriateness and poor taste, so my vote is: inappropriate, thumbs up.
