Our NAHBS coverage doesn’t usually single out a specific bicycle, but neither of us usually gets to go home with a bike we see at the show. Unlike the dozens of other NAHBS bikes we’ve posted images of over the years, this one is personal. I’ve always wanted a Geekhouse and 2011 is my year, and this is my new polo bike. After a couple of months of back and forth talks the basics came together to form this bike—26″ wheels, dual discs with guards, 135mm front and back spacing for interchangeable wheels, sub 1000mm wheelbase, track bike trail, S+S couplings for travel and black and yellow hometown colors. The Geekhouse crew pulled it all together with a bmx tubeset and their very first box crown fork, certainly making it suitable for even the most physical games on the court. It looks pretty now, but I really can’t wait to get it on the court and ding it up all proper-like.

Beyond the many bikes on the show floor, there are plenty of bikes to be seen outside and in the valet parking at NAHBS. Fancy and not-so-fancy, new and old, there is quite the mix of bicycles taking their owners to gawk at the latest artisan bikes inside. Sweet talking the valet volunteers and a brief walk outside the convention center yielded the below gallery of bikes—just a slice of what was used as basic transport for the weekend.
While Brad was busy in the studio, Jeff was roaming the trade show floor, snapping photos of people and products. Click here to visit the Flickr gallery.
NAHBS Austin is complete, with the three days of the show seeing attendance numbers close to those of the Portland show, with more bikes and vendors showing gems than one could possibly take in over three days. This is our final large gallery of studio images from the show, another hundred of them with bikes from Ellis, Bishop, Calfee, Arundel, Alchemy, DeSalvo, Ti Cycles, Ritchey, Spooky, Sarto, Kirklee, Geekhouse, Ira Ryan and Yipsan.
And where will NAHBS 2012 be held? Sacramento, CA. The birthplace of founder Don Walker, to be held the first week of March.

The above video is quite graphic, starting at about 0:56 when an automobile charges into a crowd of Critical Mass bikers in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Thankfully, nobody was killed, but at least 15 were injured, eight of them severely. The driver apparently abandoned their car shortly after, and the Brazilian news article does not say if they were apprehended.
The packed to the gills first weekend day of NAHBS Austin is complete, with countless folks coming through the doors making the aisles hard to navigate at points. It took one of our advertisers to point out that they get a ton of hits from Wired.com because of us. Surprised, I did a quick search and found that Wired must absolutely love us. Here’s a quick list of items they’ve picked up from our site: Surly Long Haul Trucker Deluxe, Surly Trailer, Surly Troll, Sturmey Archer S3X, Sturmey Archer S2C Hub, Owleye Solar Lights, Knog Boomer USB, FleetVelo Joust, Knog Keyless Lock, Cyglo Tires, Woho Saddle Bag, Lazer Urbanize Helmet, Bern Brentwood Helmet, Psych Bike Bags, Topeak Alien III, Bicycle High Wire, Ben’s Polo Mallet, Fixed Gear London Lockwhip Tool, Felt Track Bike, Eastside Fixed, Pedro’s Tülio, Giant Bowrey FMX, Recycled Sculpture, Globe Roll, Bike Porter, Serfas Tail Light, Dosun Pedals, Hambone Frame Bag, Coasties, Pedal Powered Submarine, Zaftig Cargo Fork and possibly more.
Yet despite the fact that Wired usually includes a link back to us, we’ve still received more traffic from www.yksivaihde.net in the past four years. Go figure.
BikeMyDay.com is a bike blog out of Croatia. I can’t read much of the content even if my maternal grandparents did speak a bit of Croatian between themselves when I was growing up, but there are a number of images of bikes and riding from Eastern Europe worth clicking through.

We want you to represent your city. Click here, and don’t forget to attach a high-res photo. A “high-res” photo, for those who don’t know, is typically 300dpi or greater at print size. If you’re not sure, try sending the unedited photo file that comes from a digital camera.
