DZR Jetlag and Concubine

As you know, DZR makes SPD-compatible cycling shoes that don’t look like cycling specific shoes. In fact, they’ve got a unique flair that makes them look like ultra high-end designer kicks. And in a way, they are.

The Jetlag (women’s – $85) and Concubine (men’s – $100) are the latest additions to the DZR lineup. They’re touted as, “The first and only SPD compatible slip on. The ultimate companion for the lazy cyclist.”

Prohab 2011 Calendar

Prohab is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting helmet use. The founders started it after a friend was in a crash that resulted in a serious brain injury.

Colorado Hit-And-Run Driver Avoids Jail

In a follow-up to this story, Channel 7 News reports: A judge sentenced a hit-and-run driver who plowed into a cyclist in Vail to probation, community service and making charitable donations Thursday night.

Eagle County District Judge Frederick Gannett sentenced the driver, Martin Erzinger, to 90 days in jail, but suspended the jail time.

Instead, Erzinger, 52, will lose his driver’s license for a year and have to take a leave of absence from his Denver hedge-fund manager job and complete 45 straight days of community service. He’s also ordered to make charitable donations, instead of paying court fines.

Burro Bags 2010 Artist Series

Burro Bags recently held their third annual art show featuring bags designed by local artists (and this year, an out-of-towner, Hannah Stouffer). Nearly all of the bags are one-offs that will never be seen again, but they plan on recreating a few of the designs throughout the year. Many bags sold at the show, but the remaining bags are available at Burro’s online store.

iKeirin

For the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad user who can’t get enough of keirin culture, rejoice. There’s a keirin racing game for your Apple device.

Unfortunately, everything is in Japanese, so if you don’t understand the kana, you’ll have to figure out the gameplay on your own. No big deal, but the gameplay itself is rather boring.

Get Well Soon, Nate

This sucks. Nate is a good guy, a friend of a friend, who has played polo with my friends and I. He got into a physical altercation with a motorist, and came up on the short end of the straw.

Disraeli Gears Derailleur Collection

Derailleurs are an important piece in the evolution of the modern bicycle, with a mind boggling number of different models produced over the years.

Disraeli Gears is an extensive collection of derailleur images and information, certainly more than I’ve ever seen in one place. Organized by manufacturer, decade, model, country, theme… There is a boatload of derailleur information available.
